Saf-T Vent CI Product Description
The Heat-fab Saf-T Vent® CI, a Special Gas Vent, is an AL 29-4C® stainless-steel inner wall double-wall venting system designed for use with any Listed Category I, II, III, or IV gas-fired appliance. The Saf-T Vent CI system is ideal for mid- and high-efficiency commercial and industrial natural gas and propane fired equipment with condensing flue gases and for systems with positive-pressure venting requirements.
A high-quality, extremely durable, corrosion-resistant system, Saf-T Vent CI consists of a flue-gas conduit and an outer jacket, with an insulating air space of approximately 0.16" between the conduit and jacket. The conduit (inner liner) is fabricated from highly corrosion-resistant AL 29-4C stainless steel, and the outer jacket is constructed of Type 430 stainless steel. Type 316L stainless-steel outer jacket is available for required applications.
Saf-T Vent CI Uses:
Primarily used in applications where Listed Category II, III, or IV or Direct Vent gas-fired appliances produce condensation that will corrode most common chimney and venting materials.
Also effectively used in applications where positive-pressure venting systems are required or specified. The Saf-T Vent CI closure system is tested to be gas tight at two and one-half times the Listed pressure rating of 3" water column (pressure: positive up to 3" wc, negative, or neutral).
For installations with close installation tolerances and venting clearances, Saf-T Vent CI double-wall construction reduces the necessary space for clearance to combustible materials. (See Installation Instructions for required clearance to combustibles and installation restrictions).

AL 29-4C Flue-Gas Conduit-- The Saf-T Vent CI system's flue-gas conduit is made from AL 29-4C, a superferritic stainless-steel alloy designed and patented by Allegheny Ludlum for use in oxidizing and moderately reducing environments. AL 29-4C offers extreme resistance to chloride ion pitting, crevice corrosion, chloride stress-corrosion cracking, and general corrosion.
Ring-and-Tab External Closure System -- The Saf-T Vent CI system is fastened with Heat-fab's patented Ring-and-Tab tapered closure system and sealed with factory-supplied sealant. Contained entirely on the outside of the flue-gas conduit, the Ring-and-Tab prevents penetration of the flue-gas conduit by any lower alloy, non-approved fasteners, such as pop rivets or screws. The result is a secure positive joining system with no interior projections to cause flue-gas turbulence and collect condensation, thereby compromising the venting system's integrity and safety. Heat-fab's patented Ring-and-Tab tapered closure system is tested to be gas tight at two and one-half times the Listed pressure rating of 3" wc. An additional benefit is ease of installation. Because Heat-fab's unique fastening system requires no drilling or tools, installers can join sections quickly and easily.
100% Welded Seams and Consistent Sizing -- Heat-fab has developed a 100% Laser and Advanced resistance welded-seam process for use with AL 29-4C stainless steel, which ensures a complete welded seam, with no minute cracks or crevices to fail or collect corrosive condensation. In addition, Heat-fab combines automated manufacturing processes with experienced operators who pay attention to even the smallest details to ensure that each piece of Saf-T Vent CI is consistently sized. Installers won't have to wrestle with Heat-fab Saf-T Vent CI for it to fit together properly.
Smooth Wall Design -- Saf-T Vent CI's smooth-wall design minimizes turbulence and flow resistance, and eliminates crevices and other spots where condensation could collect and begin to corrode the venting system.
Full Range of Sizes -- Standard diameters include 3", 4", 5", 6", 7", 8", 10", 12", 14", 16", and 18". Special engineered diameters include 20"-32". Heat-fab's full range of sizes and fittings allows custom design of a venting system--one that precisely suits the sizing and possible breaching requirements of a connected appliance or multiple appliances.
UL Listed -- Saf-T Vent CI is Tested and Listed by Underwriters Laboratories to UL 1738/ULC S636 and is for use with Listed natural gas or propane burning appliances that produce continuous flue-gas temperatures not exceeding 550°F.
